Getting into a car accident is a common occurrence, and I wanted to know if any of you had gotten into one recently and had to deal with your car insurance company... what was your experience like?
Have you ever gotten into an accident and proceeded to not go through your/their car insurance? Please comment and discuss...
2 actually, the first one was years ago, minor fender bender and never reported it. The second one was a couple months ago, screwed my car up pretty good, still decided not to go through with any claims, wouldnt have done any good.
ReplyDeleteI've gotten a hit and run before. What I don't understand is how you have to pay annually for insurance then when u get into shit you gotta pay another 300$ fee to get them to actually insure you.
ReplyDeleteI got into a wreak recently. My insurance company was very helpful but I was still out $500 for the stupid deductible.
ReplyDeleteI totaled my 2006 pt cruiser three years ago. But that was before I was paying for my own car insurance, so I didn't really know much about that situation.
ReplyDeleteMy friend was going to do that when he got hit, but the guy who hit him was on false plates so my friends never heard from him again.
ReplyDeleteThe only time I had to call the car insurance company was 2 years ago, when me and my band were touring Europe and the van broke down in Czech Republic. It wasn't an accident though. It was a rental, a 9 sit van, we rented it here in Portugal for the tour and we've spent a couple of hours on telephone trying to figure out what to do with the foreign policy of the company, but everything went better than expected and we had 2 small 5 sit vans by the next day. 4 days later we had our van back and didn't have to cancel any dates!
ReplyDeleteCar accidents suck and having insurance is key to not getting screwed over in car repair bills.
ReplyDeleteWrecked the bumper of my dad's car when the SUV in front of me stopped suddenly. It had a trailer hitch.
ReplyDeleteIt was going to cost 4k to get the bumper fixed, so my parents got the mechanic to buff it out as best he could, and keep the insurance out of it.
oh...not good....
ReplyDeletecross my finger just for luck and knock on wood, no recent accidents for me. You've got a new follower
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing f5
ReplyDeleteLuckily have never been in an accident.
ReplyDeleteI've almost gotten into a couple car accidents because the other person doesn't pay attention or is reckless.
ReplyDeleteNot to say I'm not reckless myself but when I'm turning on a green light and a truck and another car run the red light and almost hit me dead on is scary.
actually no.. i haven't.. I guess that would require having a car
ReplyDeleteI generally try to settle without having to go through my insurance company. Not worth it.
ReplyDeleteFrom my experience the AA offer a very competitive initial insurance quote for new customers, but be wary of the renewal quote and watch for any price hikes!
ReplyDeleteThankfully no, but sadly I don't have a car.
ReplyDeletei got hit and runned a few months ago, some dick side swiped my car and took off my mirror. after an estimate though, the repair cost was less than the deductible, so nothing had to go through insurance. yay!
ReplyDeleteGod I hate being in the car with a stupid driver
ReplyDeleteI got hit by my mother's bf in my driveway. He was too busy avoiding the tree to notice my SUV. Its a little hard to miss compared to other cars. Didn't bother with insurance.
ReplyDeletehm, good read.
ReplyDeletecar crashes suck.
ReplyDeleteHad a few accidents in my life as a driver, sometimes dealing with insurance was great, sometimes they were a big pain. You never know.
ReplyDeleteOnly once. A girl hit me in a parking lot, but it turns out that I knew her husband. There wasn't much damage that couldn't be fixed myself, so I just let it go.
ReplyDeletepoor ford :(
ReplyDeletethanks for info
i'm in BC, Canada, so I have to deal with ICBC. my car was written off so there wasn't really any "dealing" persay
ReplyDeleteno accidents recently =)
ReplyDeleteGot into one when I first started driving.. It was stupid cause it was a very minor fender bender and the idiot called the police, and of course I received a nice ticket to go along with the insurance price bump.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any car, so no problem with insurances
ReplyDeletenever been in an accident before
ReplyDeleteI was in a car accident with my friend. It was a crazy experience, but he had insurance!
ReplyDeletecheers bro
ReplyDeleteI haven't been in an accident, and I'm glad :) Some dude would prolly sue the shit out of me if that happens.
ReplyDeleteMy insurance company is top notch ... well they better be with the rates im paying them, so no probs so far .
ReplyDeleteI've had many close calls, but no actual accidents :)
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of people who have gotten into bad accidents. Insurance companies are helpful, but you better expect your premiums to rise a lot in exchange for that help.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to shop for insurance now, what a pain
ReplyDeleteI got t boned off my bike by a guy doing an illegal left hand turn. Felt bad man. luckily insurance came through and I got some $$$$
ReplyDeleteI have never been in a wreck, good thing because my cars insurance is in my parents' names.
ReplyDeletewow, nice for the info, buddy!
ReplyDeleteSweet Post!
ReplyDeleteI got hit before and we decided not to bother with the insurance. They ended up just paying for my repairs.
ReplyDeletehell yes, if its something small handle it like a damn adult. pay for your mistakes, or have them pay for theirs. otherwise it's insurance all the way and rates get jacked. also, once you have insurance on the car and it gets into an accident, prepare for "totaled" even though the car isn't totaled. the insurance company owns the car, even if you do (no lease/lien/etc). they insurance co. gets to decide.
ReplyDeleteim clean 4 now ^^
ReplyDeletemy car, they stole it. :(
ReplyDeleteLately i had a car accident :\
ReplyDeleteok i havent gotten into an accident lately, but ive been involved with two hit and runs, and one other accident. never had to contact my insurance though.
ReplyDeletethankfully not yet and frankly, i don't have any plan on being on one.
ReplyDeleteI got no problems with my insurance company at all, i sent them police log and their guy came to take pictures... after few weeks i got money that covered complete accident. nice
ReplyDeleteJust once, some dude hit us in the back because he wasn't paying attention and was driving faster than we were, no damage whatsoever on our side, his bumper was kind of damaged.
ReplyDeleteSome drunk 18-year-old idiot driving her daddy's Ford Escape smashed into the back of my car one night, cracking the rear axle and totaling it.
ReplyDeleteWe hassled her insurance company until they paid me more than what my car was worth. Yeeeeeah.
Thankfully i've not gotten into an accident yet, but my dad did. No fault of his own, a truck backed up into the front-end and the truck owner's insurance paid for the damages.
ReplyDeleteI don't even have a car :/
ReplyDeleteI've never been in an accident, but with the amount of insurance I pay you can guarantee I'll be getting every penny I can out of them if I do crash.
ReplyDeleteMy wife just totaled our 2007 vehicle 3 weeks ago. I have to say that our over all experience with the insurance company was pretty surprising. They handled everything and we had to almost nothing aside from a few phone calls. This was Geico btw.
ReplyDeleteI never had car accident!
ReplyDeleteWhen I've gotten into car accidents in the past everything was handled pretty professionally by my insurance company.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome for the tips. :)
car crashes definitely suck!!!
ReplyDeleteOnly time ever, was hauling a car trailer, and hit a deer in the middle of the night on a mountain pass. Crazy Stuff!
ReplyDeletebout to start driving........so probably not haha
